Swanson's Nursery is a large plant store located in Seattle, Washington. With new COVID-19 capacity limits, the store needs a way to create reservations, check capacity, and add walk-ins on a tablet. They worked with RSVD to create this new system to help their business adapt and thrive.
After knowing our main objectives and goals, we began looking for inspiration to create our first sketches. Here is some inspiration we took from both RSVD's past designs, and other designers on the internet:
Then we moved on to our initial sketches and mockups based on the above inspiration.
We began the process of designing, getting feedback, editing, and so on until the final version was ready.
At first we started off with a graph in the design, 3 main action buttons in a floating menu, and a snapshot section at the top.
In the next version, we made the snapshot smaller, moved the buttons to the top right, and added in "Recent Activity" and "Capacity Tracker" sections, as well as refining the filters.
We also worked on what the "Add Walk-In" screen would look like and what options would be available.
After that, we finally had our final version of the design, and prototyped it so make the "Add Walk-In" feature interactive. Lastly, we presented the design to the client. We went through a few loops of receiving feedback regarding small details like alignment, text sizes, etc, and at the end of it the design looked like this:
